The Recipe for a Cozy Winter

My home province of Manitoba is well known for being cold, so much so that it’s referred to as ‘Mani-snow-ba’, and our capital city, Winnipeg, come by the moniker ‘Winterpeg’ honestly (it’s sometimes colder than Mars!). This year the snow started falling earlier than usual, so I’ve been thinking about comfort food recipes, and you know they had to include apples!

For me comfort food means simple and delicious, which is why I love Lori Rice’s Autumn Spiced Slow Cooker Chicken with Onions and Apples. Slow cookers make life simpler, and Lori uses a unique blend of spices that you’ll keep coming back for. Plus, the apple slices add a delicious sweetness and can be used to make a sauce for topping.

Growing up, soup was the go to comfort food in my house, and not much has changed. I stumbled across this recipe for Vegan Curried Sweet Potato Soup with Apples and Cider last year and it has quickly become part of my rotation. In fact, I’m planning to make it tonight!

Speaking of festivities, how fun is a signature drink? This Apple Pie Moscow Mule recipe is right on trend for the holidays and offers a mocktail version so everyone can partake!

Finally, nothing says comfort and joy like staying home in your pajamas and enjoying brunch with the family. Apple Spice Breakfast Waffles are on my nice list and are sure to be a hit with everyone!

I hope you stay warm and make the most of winter! Don’t forget to check out Arctic® apples’ Pinterest page for more great recipe ideas from apple pie to apples in the slow cooker.

Cozy up this winter with some delicious apple recipes.
