Why It Makes Sense to Buy Pre-Cut Packaged Fruit and Veggies

The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has changed life as we know it, at least temporarily.

Is our food safe during this pandemic? That and other serious questions may be on your mind during these unprecedented times.  This is uncharted territory for all of us.

Currently there is no evidence of food or food packaging being associated with COVID-19 transmission. Read the FDA’s most recent updates here.

The Produce Marketing Association (PMA), United Fresh Association and Food Marketing Institute have released the following joint statement on the safety of produce during the global Coronavirus pandemic.

“There are no clinically confirmed cases of COVID-19 linked to the consumption of fresh produce or food sold through traditional retail outlets. As consumers select their produce, adhering to food safety guidance is critical.”

“We encourage consumers to wash their hands, and wash and prepare their produce following FDA recommendations.”

Why Buy Pre-Cut Fruit and Veggies?

Pre-cut packaged fruit and vegetables may be an especially favorable option for those that want to be extra cautious. Plus pre-cut makes your fruit and veggies convenient and ready to eat. Professionals agree- it is still important to get your fruit and vegetables, no matter how you choose to get your daily servings.

According to Produce For Better Health, “Physicians and registered dietitians agree that the familiar prescription of a well-rounded, healthful diet that includes plenty of fruits and vegetables can provide the central nutrients your body, including your immune system, needs to stay healthy. You need to have a healthy diet in general to have a generally healthy immune system.”

And don’t forget, if you need a shelf stable alternative, our delicious and crunchy Arctic ApBitz® dried apple snacks can be found on Amazon.
